Katti Batti , a film helmed by Nikhil Advani, has recently been released. It stars Kangana Ranaut, Imran Khan and Nikkitasha Marwaha. Nikkitasha completed her Diploma Programme in Acting at Actor Prepares and since then has featured in various TV commercials, modelling assignments and short Films.
In a candid chat with us she describes her journey right from her training at Actor Prepares to landing her first role in a major feature film.
Q) How has your experience been working on the film Katti Batti?
It has probably been one of the more educative experiences because it was the first time I was working with a very big banner. It was a dream come true. I learnt a lot from Kangana Ranaut and it is amazing to work with people who are on top of their game because you get to see how they handle their art and their ethics and their behaviour on the sets. I got to observe her and put it in my own vibe. The icing on the cake for me was Imraan Khan because he is by far the kindest person I know. His personality, his humour just makes everyone so happy and comfortable.
Q) What was your experience working with Nikhil Advani?
It was a dream come true to have worked with director Nikhil Advani who has made us laugh and cry with the film Kal Ho Na Ho. Nikhil Advani would just help us understand our character and then just let us be. So there was minimal direction from his side. That way we got to make the characters our own and this helps because you get to show what you really can do.
Q How did this film happen?
So I have been giving auditions on and off since the past 2 years. So while auditioning I have met a number of casting agents and co-ordinators. One of them was Mukesh Chhabra who did the casting for this film. I am represented by Bling agency, so Mukesh Chhabra and the agency recommended my name. I had also done a short film for MTV titled Shaadi Vaadi And All That and Nikhil Advani had seen my work on the film. So basically everything just fell into place.
Q) Has it helped being a trained actor?
Oh it definitely has, in the sense that I have a certain way of understanding a character now. For my roles I sometimes go back to my observations and it has opened me up to more resources.
