Last weekend was and eventful time for the ScreenWriting Diploma students as they had opportunity to interact with ace filmmaker Sudhir Mishra in a guest lecture at Actor Prepares.
Conducted in a "Conversational" style moderated by Mayur Puri, the filmmaker touched upon various aspects of filmmaking especially the relationship and the link between the Director and a Screenwriter in a film. He spoke at length on his experiences as a writer and filmmaker and emphasised on the fact that while gaining the appreciation of the audience does matter, it is critical to ‘not lose yourself’ in the process.
Known for directing critically acclaimed films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Dharavi and Chameli. A pioneer of the independent filmmakers era, Sudhir Mishra is a multiple National Award winning filmmaker with a career spanning over 30 years.
Signing off by quoting a line by Gary Linekar, the soccer great, “I don’t believe in being in the right place at the right time. It is far more important to be in the right place ALL the time.”
Thank you Sudhir sir for your valuable time and inputs and rest assured the takeaways from this session will be a key factor in the training of our Screenplay writing students
